Judge: Voois ,Vincent *File Specs* [Filename]m6i-arom.xxx [Title]Aromousse [Total playing time]04:50 *Musical Values* [Creativity]Reasonable to good [Story]"Dark side story" of industrial worx [Structure]It's industrial, with pause sections and machinery sections, the well known "tour along...." structure [Harmony]Hmmz, well instruments are well set up among eachother but the volume distortion really ripps the piece out of balance and that is a real pity. [Realness/Fantasy factors] Cool idea, i am not fond of all parts but that's a matter of taste which does not count! *Technical Values* [Instruments]Instruments are arranged properly, they serve for the purpose used, though volume could be controlled either here or in the samples OR in the patterns, i come back to that in the arrangements! [Samples] There were not many samples i could recognise, actually this is quite a nice sampleset some strange sfx from which i did not expected any descent output seem to have a certain value but only if used in a specific way! [Arrangements]The stereo environment and usage of Sfx is good, the overal timbre suits but these darn volumes!, i had to set the mixing level a lot lower to spare my speakerset a bit from destruction. [Use of...]The same instrument simultaneously in severe tracks were actually the main essence that caused a loud distortion in the volume, especially in the low frequency samples (base / percussion), if you would have dropped volume to 50% of it's original value it would probably have differed a lot! [Sample Quality] Not that much wrong, only a few samples sounded with the wellknown 8-bit noise. *Sounding Techniques* [Depth]Stereo environment and surround effects are good. [Width]The use of doubled low base frequency samples could have been better arranged in volume, they overruled the output. [Headphones]If tampered with the mixing volume (6x in Fasttracker) this song "sounds" some good aspects. [Speakers] The same goes for sounding on speakers. |
Judge: Rudge ,Bryan The first thing I noticed when listening to this song were the bass levels. They were extremely high and even when I turned my sub off they still blew me away. This is one of the main factors of the song which brought its score down: levels. For example, despite the high bass level (and believe me, Im a basshead as it is), other tracks like the drums weren't mixed to their full capability. When the percussion track actually came in, it was barely identifiable since the other levels were either too high or the drums were just too low. I enjoyed, what appeared to me, to be a mix of genres: the opening had a nice ambient sound (gave me an aquarium-type of mental image) and as the tune "progressed" some industrial overtones dissolved into the mix. Unfortunately, I put "progressed" in quotations because the tune never really developed to its full potential. It remained a typical format with repeated "riffs" over and over. Overall, a tune with some nice ideas but nothing that came through concretely enough to score a 50 at an intermediate level. |
Judge: Wu ,Chang Samples fit in the song, but weren't of overly great quality. It's just kind of boring, in my opinion anyway. |
Judge: Roth ,Nick Okay, this is my second version of voting for my songs, so I have to make the comments short. This song was a bit too noisy for my taste, and had no real melody to it. |
Judge: Norilo ,Vesa Sample set could be better. It is imaginative which is good, but some sounds are of low quality. Not much seems to be happening in this tune. The beat is quite nice, something different for a change. Sound is very heavy and dark. I can't say I like this tune, but it is original, which must not go unrewarded. I am not sure if this tries to be ambient or trance. It falls somewhere between them, and has just enough of both to be good at neither. You should have lowered the mixing volume - as it was some clipping occurs with software mixing cards. |

the jungle sine bass isn't that good, it's very flat and doesn't hit the low end like you think it does, it's not a nice round one the beats are uhm... cheezy jungle, the bassline is very un-original very boring, yawner, nothing going on, i'm falling asleep... doesn't make me want to do anything... repetitive, boring, |
