Judge: Frown ,Anthony Nice, a little bit long intro. Wonderful bass/treble balance and catchy, enchanting tune. Panning and volume work is very well done. A bit messy theme/chord prog; however, leads and arrangement are ok. Well-defined outro. Even title makes some sense. Drums are siple but not annoying, they help well to create a mood. I'd suggest to expand orders from 5 to 7 a little more and cut down final, and we'll have a very well sounding demotune. Most samples are known to me, but they are tuned properly and sounds well. Overally - nice, catchy tune. |
Judge: Stewart ,David The song begins, promising more than the second half delivers. First half sounds good sample-wise but sounds very much like the backing music for a Doom or Descent level. Second half is far too bassy and is crying out for something sharper playing a melody over the top of it. The melody you do try to put over it is more of a lead break. It's too complicated to attract my ear. Repetition is what is needed melodically. Try a simpler, more catchy melody. Overall a nice idea that lacks the catchy, memorable melody that could have elevated it from game music to a song which could stand on its own feet. |
Judge: Hutchinson ,Will wow, alot of things in this track really caught my attention. first of all, its just a great piece of music: the chords are sort of like something you might hear in a fast paces 80's horror movie. the transitions are *excellent*, and the song never feels slow or dull. the main gripes, however, mainly deal with the samples, and the technique. i think that there werent nearly enough NNA fades used for the chords, and they end up sounding abrupt sometimes. also, the samples are all a bit on the tinny side: not nearly enough mid-range sound. overall, an excellent track. |
Judge: Jonsson ,Agust Ack. At first I got the impression I had stumbled across a tune from a game (on c64 or somewhere else) and then... it falls over and starts to rip off FC's Unreal/2nd Reality tracks. *sigh* A rather cheap track if you ask me, and not one which leaves a good impression :P And I couldn't stand the "drum"track especially in the 2nd half. The samples ain't bad, nor is the tracking, but please, don't rip of famous tracks so blatantly :P |
Judge: Norilo ,Vesa Sample set could be better, altough you use this one pretty well. 16bit resolution on the kettle drum is a waste, since it has a weak sound quality. The song has a distinctive mood, but the beat should be heavier and more powerful. The lead is executed relatively well. Inadequate voicing with the chords. Try to make the voices move as little as possible as you change from a chord to chord. The structure seems to be in two parts. I even hear some kind of theme, but it could be brought about more boldly. :) |
