Judge: Sega ,Andrew A nice jazzy-style piece. Samples are notably clean, and used well. The claps are a bit trite, however, along with the drumloop that kicks in later in the piece. :> Nice use of effects on the sine leads. The beginning is a bit muddled, but after the drums start there is a nice groove. Good use of 'real' jazz chords (min7ths, 9th). There is a notable break in the middle of the piece, after which the song degenerates a bit into something more trip-hop-ish (but not nearly groovy enough to keep me interested), which hurts the score somewhat. |
Judge: Majeran ,Nick A laid back, enjoyable tune. After many listenings, I still don't think the beginning fits, but it doesn't bother me anymore. The sample set of this song is put together very well, and used creatively. The transitions are well placed, eased into, and well-thought out. The panning could have been a bit more adventurous, but it sufficed. I listened to "Cool Summertime" many times, and I was feeling the summertime vibe that this song imparts. Well done! |
Judge: Kavanagh ,Cliff This song was a nice listen. It's not often enough I hear something of this quality. It contains some nice samples, and the author puts them to good use by keeping the song original at every stage. Some things I would have liked to see were some more panning effects - there were a few, but not enough. Overall, however, this song was very well written and deserving of a high mark. |
Judge: Glines ,Mark Love it. Starts out interestingly (does NOT sound 'average' (a.k.a. dull)), follows through beautifully and flows well throughout. Especially love the 'Oh yeah', its placed perfectly, fits with the music and is very artistically done. |
Judge: Pinkas ,JanPinky Pretty good voice smaples. It is probably the best of songs I've judged. Good FX and panning. Easy listening. |
