Judge: Godden ,Daniel Nice feel in this tune. The melody is great, the base is well fitting, but I think that the 'sticks' in the rythym wherea bit loud, and where a little off putting. It is good to hear a nonconventional scale being used. The piece does seem to look a little direction in the flute solo, but doesn't detrack from the piece. A feel the ending of the tune is a bit sudden, it seems to be going on just fine and then comes to an end. But I much say that I like this tune, it shows knowledge of musical theory with the application of the nonconvential scale, and that does create a good feel to the tune. I like this, and this it was quite well done. |
Judge: Soderstrom ,Tim This sond bears similar atributes to the music of Yanni. More or less a live jam with a collection of instrements. A nice sound overall, but the some of the instrements (the beggining twang) were bleh. The song itself lacks some depth. It sounds dry. It could use more precussion. Also the song doesn't have a real flow to it. It does have some good bridges (that, again, sound familiar to Yanni) and everything ties in nicely. But the song has a definate structure. Predicatable, or done-to-death. Looking at it from a style perspective, in the world of tracking, the song style sounds more or less new. It is not a(nother) techno song, for example. All in all, a good peice of music, but it could have used some touching up somewhere along the line. Nice work! |
Judge: Norilo ,Vesa Fortunately your samples were very good. Especially the mandolin tremolo samples. You handle 7/8 well. Sound is good, even for an intermediate entry. Overral, I quite like this one. Ethnic feeling without a forced feeling - tricks just for tricks' sake. Percussion is the best part of your tracking. |
Judge: Abersold ,Mark Some work is needed on the beginning. The bass sample you have doesn't sound very good by itself, something else is needed to fill in the gaps where just the bass is playing. Maybe some background string chords could play here. The flute bit starting at order 23 was a very effective part of this song. However, the flute sample has built in vibrato, which tends to hamper samples. Try to use samples that don't have their own vibrato, and you can add it with the Hxy command. |
Judge: Girard ,Marc Very "empty" mix. Sounds thin. A "synth" banjo of some sort that sounds very weird, but the song has an interessing style. There's some talent there, it shows, keep on tracking. |
