Judge: Goddard ,Michael It seems disjointed, melody is not distinguishable, and almost sounds like whinning cats. The piano in order 10 sounds out of tune. The melody in order 12 is quite painfull. Actually much of this piece sounds off-key. Technically an average song, the tunes just sound like a heap of bits strung together and it does not work. Panning was about the only thing nice about this piece. |
Judge: Lu ,Philip The pitch slides need a little more work. You want them to be subtle. This piece does not flow. The pitch is off. Too much static, or sample distortion. The instruments don't support each other. It's like.. the samples are lonely and don't see each other. Piano gives some hit of melody, it ends nice in each phrase, but the transistion has to be better. The snare needs work. Try varying the volume hi-lo-hi-lo for more realistic effects. The bass guitar is terrible. The poor peasants are suffering and the big ugly king comes in and stomps on everybody. Ending needs work. |
Judge: Tamburrino ,Bobby The intro is decent here, but one of the samples seems like the looping is off - play a little bit more with the looping points in the sample editor so you don't get the jumping at the higher notes. Some of the samples also seem slightly out of tune, clashing with the rest of the song. That piano is REALLY out of tune, and it shows because it's being portrayed in front of a single bassline. Some of your chord changes are not in key with the repeating bass-line, you might want to change the bass accordingly. Overall, this song might have had some good points, but they were all covered up by bad tuning and improper volume handling (fading out instruments when the key changes.) |
Judge: Shimamoto ,Kevin A repetitive theme, desperately seeking varied elements. The instruments do change, but the theme is too uniform, leaving the listener numb after a while; the listener loses interest after a short time. Overall, needs a lot more variation to make this one work. |
Judge: Latva-Mantila ,Vesa Mostly let down by horribly detuned samples (which are quite bad to begin with). Also, the looping on some of them is off almost as terribly...this might not be a bad song, but the samples being so out of tune really makes it hard to concentrate on anything else. |
