Judge: Torreele ,Phil I liked the chord progression use in this song and it's nice to see an artist who doesn't use drumloops. The problems I found in thie song though, were #1: the organ came in way too late; perhaps two patterns sooner would have been better. #2: when using an effect sample make it subtle; not overpowering like sample 09 was at the end of pattern 10. And #3: This song was dying for a lead. The organ was nice, but would have been nicer in support of a lead. If I didn't know better, I would have guessed this song was either made for a human to sing the lead OR one was simply not put in. |
Judge: Hegstad ,Jrgen The intro and ending doesn't bare ANY coherence to the tune itself. The bass and chords are repeted _all the time_. You should really try to make something more out of this. The lead is not so bad, but it's too random-sounding and slow. And the "foooshhh" FX sample you put in there is way too loud and ends too abruptly. "Never Work" has potential, but the composer fails to use it to its fullest extent. |
Judge: Skogen ,Eric nice song. i liked it. originality: your song was more ethereal than most, which i enjoyed. and it had a cool, slowdancy, jazzy quality about it. but it was not especially different from standard demo/tracked fare. form: pretty good. on the high end of the intermediate level. i liked the tune. it just .. sounded good. a little repetitive, though. and the lead was REALLY corny. technique: i liked the way the lead rolled from one note to another, emulating a real organ. and the drums followed nicely. but the lead wasn't well thought out or musically "correct" samples: volume on the hihat too high. basically, all the volumes could have been adjusted a little. the rain/thunder samples were excellent. if they are your own, i complement you. i stole them. |
Judge: Friberg ,David Of course there have to be a few songs that start off with the ubiquitous rain and thunder in every music compo, and this is one of those. I noticed the notes for the guitar part are actually fairly easily played on a guitar, which doesn't sound quite realistic, it sometimes sounds like a guitar part played on a piano. The melody is nice (at those few times when there actually is a melody ), but not memorable, and at times it didn't seem to mix properly with the chords. Your chord progression was pleasant, however. The slowdown at the end was a bit abrupt. It may have not even been necessary as this song is fairly slow anyway. |
Judge: Telgarsky ,Matus Try to change the volume sometimes and introduce new elements. and modify those samples some or get some new ones. I dunno, soimehow the song is just lackluster and dull. |
