Judge: Friedly ,Matt excellent ambient sounds and space station vocal samples... this intro is quite enjoyable... it sets a good mood... the lead is done very well... nice job with the 80's drums effect with the echo on kick and snare... the song musically floats along nicely, but unfortunately that's about all it does... if you could add some variety, make the entire tune come from it's groove to a rise of soul screaming in the lead and bring in some extra sound in the form of space choir chords or deep chanting booming sort of bass pad chords... otherwise, i enjoyed listening to this song, and probably will for a while to come... |
Judge: Prouteau ,Thierry Well, i'll try not to be too rude. I don't know if it's a joke, but maybe you should have subscribed in the rookie section. Here is a list of remarks about your tune : - I just don't know why there are 30 channels on your song (you sometimes play a note and you re-use the channel many patterns later. Useless) - Why so many voices ? Sorry to tell you this, but i'm not english at all and I don't understand a single word in your sample and i don't feel the purpose of it. - There is no melody at all. You have to express feelings with your song. I know some songs can have no melody when they are ambience songs. But it's even not the case with yours. |
Judge: Mcphesron ,Jonathan Operation Delta Rating: 73 This song opens magnificently well, with clear, sharp samples, an excellent suspenseful atmosphere, clever panning, and all the earmarks of a world- class track. And it comes close. In fact, I have only a few problems with this song. For one: song development. When you use narrative samples in your song, it's best to let them tell a story. As skillful as the music is, it's designed as background to the action in the mind's eye. Around order 22, the suspense pretty much packed up and left. It went from being a song with a shiveringly good space saga to tell to just another track with movie clips thrown in. If it had just finished what it had begun, I'm convinced this would be a truly great track. As it is it's nice, but it doesn't really go anywhere. Secondly: the panning on that lead. Picky, I know. (-: But the already uninspiring lead tune is send to the extremes of left and right in a very distracting fashion. Again, smooth samples, nice tracking, slick panning (mostly (-:). An excellent piece of music with a few annoying flaws. |
Judge: Jonsson ,Agust Nice movie-style song, would have fitted perfectly as the background music to a movie sequence in a game or something. Samples are used very efficiently (though I could have survived without hearing sample #3, it's been used WAY too much in movies lately and for some reason it's making me sick ;) but obviously it's struggling to fit within the 1mb limit. Very good work here. |
Judge: Nel ,Jonathan Very nice tune, I listened to it once, and i was impressed by your skill, it isnt always easy to use voice samples in a song, although these are the typical .mod voices. I really enjoyed your intro, and i felt you should have used more strings for backing throughout, as you had such nice samples. I felt the echo's on your leads were a bit too loud, although it made for a nice effect. Nothing wrong with this song, really an all round, solid piece of work. Good Luck. |
