Judge: Mccuen ,Steve Catchy toon but probably could have left out pattern 6. Good use of using different sounds to keep the base song flowing. Samples - varied types used. |
Judge: Sega ,Andrew A bizarre blend of polka rhythms and rhodes/jazz style instrumentation, mixed with some inane death-metal solos. Technically, it's pretty well executed, no glaring wrong notes or anything... but stylistically it's a bit hodgepodge of mixed metaphors. Tempo changes occur at a frenetic pace. Samples sound like they are from some GM set. |
Judge: Epp ,Jonathan Starts off pretty cool. I don't like the chord changes immediately before the heavy guitar section. And those heavy guitar sections contrast way too much with the rest of the song. I mean, sure, contrast is good, but let's not overdo it. :) The fast lead starting around order 18 sounds to me like it lacks direction. I do like order 20 where it slows gown and then slowly speeds back up again. That was fairly well done. I think this song could have been better if the composer concentrated on one style instead of trying to combine two entirely different styles. |
Judge: JiménezChapresto ,Eduardo It is a very original song, though the whole song doesn´t make the listener feel anything. It sounds well but it looks a little bit disordered. The form may be better. The end of the tune could be much better. The technique is not over the rest of the tune. |
Judge: Pakula ,Taylor More effective use of panning could have helped this song. Either that or some effects on the leads would have been nice, but without either of these, the overall tone of the song was rather flat. The chord progressions were fresh and creative. The breakdowns with the distorted guitar were totally out of place and left me wondering why the composer would screw up the mood s/he had (rather effectively) created with the rest of the song. I enjoyed the skillful manipulations of tempo and time signature. The darkly weird feeling I got from the song was enhanced by such rhythmic variation. This is a song I would put in the same category as "The Great Zoo Riot" because of it's "fun factor" in terms of listenability. |
