Judge: Majeran ,Nick Like any good taco, "Me My Taco" was both tasty and sloppy. The song was also fun to listen to, I just wish it had words! I kept on finding places to sing the refain of "Me and my taco." Anyways, I thought the tune worked well. The sample set was cohesive. Panning is okay. The transitions seemed to lack a bit of direction to me, earning the "sloppy" phrase earlier. I did enjoy the bit of arabic chords in the 40's patterns, which again added to the sloppiness. But hey, a taco is a taco. |
Judge: Kavanagh ,Cliff This is a very well written tune. Quite nicely done. The samples are clear and of good quality, the panning effects were subtle but effective, and the changing of rythm definately helped take the song further. The panning effects were quite simple, but the author made good use of it. As well, the samples were of high quality and original - I've never heard some of these before, especially the drums. The rythm changes were good, and helped carry the song along - clean transitions. Some very interesting things were going on - I liked it. I do feel, however, that the some could use work on the velocity - or the volume of instruments. At a few points the author has the melody and other instruments going - but there is so much it can be difficult to make out the melody. OVerall, however, this is an extremely well written piece, and a nice song to listen to. |
Judge: Grandpre ,Dan This is one of those songs that was conceived of entirely in the tracker from the sound of it, rather than any ideas worked out beforehand- unfortunately that makes it sound a certain way that it probably otherwise wouldn't.. The first prominent chord progression early on is not too bad, but the execution (as is common in the intermediates) is lacking something... the terrible piano sounds (another common thread) aren't helping either. This song actually has a breakdown partway in, something i like to see in a song instead of just droning on for 3 minutes then fading out like most.. so points for that. Unfortunately when it kicks back in there's not much to scream about there... The pieces of the song all sound like separate tunes pulled together at the last second. Either that's the case or the composer needs to work on their transitions some more.. |
Judge: Voss ,Andrew Since this is "emergency voting", I don't think I need to be too concerned about making comments, eh? |
Judge: Pinkas ,JanPinky First thing it touch me is drum line. It has good samples and Latinic rythm style. But where is some panning? Why piano lead? |
