Already-overused rainfall sound effect for the intro, which cuts off harshly. Ambient pad sample needs to be faded better, and gets annoying as it's use throughout the piece (even more so as this is the 2342342th time I've heard it in a module). Drums are introduced fairly well (gradually) but the panning is odd - take that right-panned hihat for example. When the tune actually gets going, the drums are impressively done and fairly mixed. Bass sample is out of tune, and the guitar notes are off. Lead saxophone sample panned annoyingly across the speakers. It's a good, simple melody which fails in places because it clashes with the chords, which is a shame. The second sax lead fits well, but again, the bass is off. Work on your harmonies and chords. Interesting mid section cutoff, good sax. Overall, a well chosen sample set and a style that's covered fairly well, but you really need to keep the track in tune. You tried to do Cybelius and you almost pulled it off, but the technical side needs work. Keep at it and next year you'll be in Intermediate.

I must say first that this is the best Rookie song I head this far. The beginning is just great with good samples, and the chords aentrance is also good. The technique is good also in all of those parts, including the rythm afterwards, and the only thing that is disturbing is sample no. 7. The chords are also interesting. So far, so good. But then starts the solos. The solo in order 20 and on is still good in the beginning, but later - using notes that he shouldn't and makes unpleasent harmony with the chords. Pattern 28 and on the solo isn't good for the same reason and isn't interesting. Patterns 36-40 are good. gennerally all of the solos in this tune suffer from the same problem, and that's the only reason that this tune didn't get a much higher grade from me. Anyway, I hope this tune will get a good place in the rookie, because he is quite good. Vel.

At first, Acid Alliance seemed to be a little repetitive- the chords seemed to repeat themselves for the first 8 patterns or so. Then, however, their was a nice sax solo, and brass. However, I thought that the brass was a little out of place in the song, plus the fact that it probably should have been held longer for some of the notes. The drumbeat was nice, though it didn't change much throughout the song. Original, however, with some good work going into it, and a jazzy feel.

One of my favorite m6r songs. Advice: Don't let the Fasttracker instrument panning overrule you though (made the trumpets sounded too choppy). More stereo commands would help. Actually, on listening to the trumpets, I noticed that they sound a little too fake. Listen to jazz bands more. The sound is close, yet clearly artificial. Dunno, maybe you need more trumpet samples to simulate the trumpet. Sometimes you cut the trumpet off too quickly. Yet, this is probably one of the better trumpet songs in the scene. Moving on, you did a great job in mixing the instruments together. The dissonance in the chords made this song successfully trance-like. Love the dreamy atmosphere.

*File Specs* [Additional vote] ... [Filename]m6r-aal.xm [Title]Acid Alliance [General comment]Fake rain sfx, trademark sample ripp, badly arranged sax-instrument, unprofessional use of saxaphone, this sounds very hard but these things i notice, don't worry too much since they are assets of technique but you could also have recorrected these minor flaws in advance. Your timbre-set is nice, your song shows depth and a nice width, nice organ, the chord samples are used quite a lot of times by many predessors of you but they fit the groove of your songconcept.
