The lack of proper sample control and limited use of channels bring this song down. The samples are of low quality and some are out of tune. This kind of song sounds very shallow unless it has an "epic" feel to it. What it needs are first of all, better samples. A few Timpanis and orchestral bass drums would have added depth to the song. Background strings would have been nice. And I'm sure there's a better flute sample lying around. The snare drum you had added very little. It sounded very out of place in this tune. Try to avoid placing full channels of random drum notes, too. It detracts from the musical quality. In pattern 4, when the flutes were playing lots of notes, echoing would have helped. Echoing would also have helped instrument 0b throughout the entire song. To echo, by the way, you copy the contents of the channel you want to echo, paste them into another channel, move the new channel's notes down two or four rows, and decrease the volume to about 20, give or take. Finally, instrument 0d was not a very good choice for your arabian style sample. That sample I believe was meant for a more rezonatic, flange-style sample.

There a few problems in this tune. The main flute is out of tune, and rythmically it sound a bit harsh If the sample was in tune this piece would have been alot better. The samples also would have been better. The variation in the tune as okay, and I did like the counter/backing melody of the 'bagpipe' sounding sample. I think more samples would have been useful, and the main melody also need some work. This tune does have some potential but needs to be worked on.

OW! The one thing I find distrubing about most all rookie tunes if their use of bad samples. The samples were mistuned, and sounded like crap at the high noted you played them at. It sounds very un-realistic. Setting that aside, this song didn't have all that much flow to it, that is, you kept doing the same thing over and over and over, and you just added a few things here and there, or a drumbash in between. The formula was the same. The Bagpipe kept doing this scale-like thingy, and then what sounded similar to a flute did the same there here and there, but this time in pairs with more melody. As a rookie tune, however, it is better than some of the other tunes I have heard - but it is not melodically strong. My suggestion to you is to have a friend look over the songs you make. He will be able to hear what sounds like crap more than you will. You have the newbie syndrom, everything sounds good :) I don't think you can 'legally' get outside suggestions on an MC tune, however...but.....=)

Sample 9 is looped very badly. Most of the samples are ones I've seen many times in other songs. Some samples are even out of tune. To my suprise, the chippy sound you use as a lead actually works quite well. I'd recommend opening more channels and doing the echo effect on your other lead sample with channels instead of processing it into the sample. I find your tracking skills still unpolished, but originality raises your score. Another positive detail was the use of borduna (single bass note), as is appropriate in ethnic music. You didn't strictly follow a correct arabian scale, which gave away your lack of experience and knowledge of this kind of music. Most of my feedback is negative, but don't take me wrong - I actually enjoyed this little tune. You have the originality to be a factor in the future of the scene. And I'm willing to bet you have the guts to practise

The first few patterns of this one gave me some hope. The chip leads doing arabic scales... not too bad. Then the out-of-tune flute kicked in. And the military drums. Hmm. The rest of the tune continued downhill from there, ending up in a bout of manic drum spasms, with staccato and dissonant 16th note bursts belting out the middle eastern melodies. A good drum loop would have probably saved this one.
