The samples are well tuned, the tune adheres well to the genre, starts a bit sluggishly but builds well enough, creating a reasonable atmosphere. Unfortunately, around order 26, it becomes an entirely different song. Why? It's a pleasant enough different song, with a few similarities in mood to the first one, I'll admit, but it's still a different song... And then at order 40, it all makes sense. It's a song in three movements. Once I stopped to consider this, I realised the three parts seemed to go quite well together. The ending kinda curls up and dies, though, which doesn't sound good. It's like, I'm listening to it, then I suddenly notice it's not there anymore. Never a good thing. A more emphatic ending might have helped here. Overall, the track shows obvious musical talent. No dischords, good tuning, a clear programmatic style and three distinct movements which seem to tell three parts of a story. Well above the average rookie track. I hope this makes top 5. Good luck!

This song has 3 distinct parts/movements. Part 1 has a nice introduction and builds up well but never gets quite as exciting as I would like. Part 2 is also good but is a bit too repetitive for me especially in the first half. Part 3 starts well but seems more appropriate for a middle movement than a final one, it also just dies out too suddenly at the end. Maybe the composer ran out of time? I noticed many of the samples were not as clear as they could be and expected that this song had been victimized by the song size limit. But I checked it's size and it is only about half of the allowable size. Either the composer went a bit overboard in trimming the size down, or his original samples were not of the highest quality. This song has many good ideas. If the parts/movements were completed in a more seamless whole and it had less noisy samples I think it would be great. I definitely want to hear more work by this composer.

About your samples: why do you use 16 bits samples for the violin crash when you're using an 8 bits sample for the violin sustain ? In most occasions, a well sampled 8 bits is far better than a lousy 16 bits. The same applies to the high-pitch xylophon-like sample, turn it in 8 bits and try to tell the difference. I want to highlight the fact that you've turn off all of the unused channels, even if you're tracking with Impulse. It certainly is a good habbit to keep. I don't have enough hair on my head to count the number of amateur' songs I've listen to that starts with the thunder or the rain. Try something more creative as an opening for the next time. The guitar in channel #9 is great to gain the listener's curiosity and interest. There's a nice progression in patterns 13-14. I don't like the repetition of the main theme another time, just a couple of tones higher. It looks like you had time to fill and were out of ideas. And there isn't any transitions between the two. Also, if you want to change drastically (pattern #26), you must, first, warn the audience, and then reminds us that it isn't a completly different song (bring something from the other theme). And that's about it. Great ending by-the-way. Don't give up, you've got potential. Practice is the key to success !

This tune got 3 parts separated by silence. It's like having 3 tunes, for my opinion. The first one is a soft tune who really got nothing special. The second is more rhythmic and got a nice catchy lead. However, it is not 'full' enough and there is a feeling of something missing the whole time. Should had more chords. The third part (which got nothing nothing to do with the first or the second, not even in style!) is again a boring tune. It would have been better to lose the first and third parts and to base a whole tune on the second. Maybe add a littel chords and extra layers. As it is - the tune is nothing I was waste my time on.

*File Specs* [Additional vote] Wrong division... [Filename]m6r-bhon.it [Title]Battle of Honour [General comment]Known samples, not all of a too great quality, use of surround mode are actually the only serious flaws i could find, this song is realy realy good. Too good actually, well for this division certainly, you could have had the same score from me in the intermed division and maybe even in the Veteran devision! This song is a good example of how many sections and stories you can insert in music, it represents various forms of emotions, tensions, fear, action and glory is all in it, the environment sounds great the breaks are good and building excitement. Some exceptional key-progression is appearing within the song but it is like the hulk competing against kids in the kindergarten, do you think that sounds fair? Even though it is highly worth downloading.
