Well, definately an interesting tune. The melody through the song could have been a bit more pronounced. I found myself listening to the song twice before it hit me. The volume levels throughout could have been a bit more tweaked to provide better balance. The nna's were well used and the instruments were quite good. After order 15, it just turns into a long outro, kind of disturbing considering the melody was so abruptly shutoff. Good tune, needs some fleshing out.

This is a very good tune, especially for a rookie, but there are a few things that keeps it from getting a really high score. The biggest downside is that it doesnīt really sound like a whole finished tune, but more like the first part of something bigger. It also gets a little less interesting towards the end. Otherwise though, it shows good technique and the samples are fine quality, and it is a kind of song that you donīt hear all that often in the scene. Just try and plan the tune a bit more before you start tracking, and you probably wonīt get into a situation where you donīt know how to continue the song and finish it a proper way.

If this is a chip tune, why does it take up nearly a meg on my harddisk? If this is a masterpiece, why are all the chords one note? I'm sorry, but this song does nothing for me. On the plus side, it seems to be relatively in tune and has some kind of melody.

After hearing thins song many times, I can see how much work went into it's construction. Most of the samples were clear and realistic, it had a dark and atmospheric feel to it, and it used a lot of panning effects that helped along the way. However, I just couldn't give it a higher score because of a few unfortunate oversights. While most of the samples were very nice, the first sample, used on channel 10 for the majority of the time, was too overpowering for the rest of the song. It also had a very synthetic sound to it, which didn't fit in with the rest of the song. Second, and most importantly, it never had any true conclusion. There weren't any key or tempo changes, it just faded out. It gave me the feeling that this was rushed to meet the deadline. Third, this isn't exactly anything new. I've heard many other songs which had the same sound to them, including previous MC entries. However, looking over these, this is a very good piece for a rookie, and if there was just a little more time put into it, this could be a solid contestant for MC7.

Well, what can I say... Chip masterpiece doesn't really excite me. There were a few majorly consistent things that bring the song down. The first, and most noticable thing is that the song never ever changes mood, and the mood it goes with is very low, sad, depressing, or something like that. Another thing is that there is really no intro... it just whooshes right into whatever it is. Third, the lowest bass sample is taken WAY too low to sound semi-real or appreciatable. Also, there's the way the song begins sort of interesting... with strings and trumpets hitting different notes and stuff... but then it all falls apart and the whole last half of the song sounds just like a few low low low intsturments hitting really really low notes at random. It sounds to me like the author started with a decent idea, then proceeded through the song as effort dwindled, until all effort was gone.

Well, the song is called Chip Masterpiece, yet I only see one chip sample in it. (: But that nonwithstanding, let's go on to the nitty gritty here. Curious chord structure in the beginning. Very nice chord change as the harp comes in. There are a lot of chord changes happening so far, but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere yet. I fear that the fate of this song is the fact that it doesn't go anywhere at all. Aside from a few chord changes, it goes around in the circular drive-way and cannot find its way out. Samples are good quality and blend well together. The use of samples is very well done. Good fades both in and out. Ideally this would be a well done song. All it requires is a little more in the sense that it goes somewhere. Let an instrument get a little busy in the middle and show the listener that it's capable of much more than background accompaniment. The song, essentially, is accompaniment to something, yet the something never seems to come in. However, given that thought, I would say that this is a well done song.
