The drums and the strings are too much synchronized at the beginning. You really overused your hihat. It was getting on my nerves at the end of the module. Instead of having your module just start back at the beginning, you should have tracked some kind of fancy ending. You should have developped your melody in the 6th order a little more (it was good, but you should have continued with something similar in the next patterns). Orders 13 to 19 were quite neat, but the hihat blew it.

I like the opening. The use of the perc as a kind of tick-tock is really cool. The strings would sound better if they overlapped, though (uses more channels, but sounds better). The pizzi string reminds me of last year's Rookie winner (Hafisaka, I think)... The shaker is too loud. The strings as a lead (sample 3, around pattern 10, 12, 14, etc) just doesn't work. Use two channels and fade them: the strings sound horrible with so much cut-off. In fact, you might do better to use three channels and use one as an echo. Musically, this song is quite nice... Not too repetative (a bit, though), and it's got an interesting mood. There's obvisously a lack of tracking skill, but that's to be expected in the Rookie division, right? :) (Abrupt ending, by the way. It sounds nice when it's looped, but not by itself) Good luck.

Not a bad choice of samples, but unfortunately, the track itself just boring. A little bit of panning on the strings might have spiced them up a little bit, but not enough to save the tune.

well, sorry but so many long sustained notes all at the same volume can kill a person. try to change volumes some, and pick more interesting samples, and play around with your loops more.

It is a good attempt at an orchestral piece with dark harmonies and a decent selection of instruments. It also does all of this within a mere 212 KB. However, it is still rather young. String instruments tend to get cut off rather than faded out smoothly, and the melody appears somewhat random. The volumes could also use a little balancing to bring out the bass and highlight the horn/string melody halfway through. The song would also be better with a little bit of percussion in the background (snares, cymbals, misc. noises) and more counter-melodies. This song has the makings of an even better one. Good job.
