Judge: Fredricks ,Fred Needs work is an understatement. Seems like the author was trying for techno but ended up with a mess. There was little semblance of tuning and the repitition was nauseating. The piano melody went nowhere, the percussion needs a LOT of work and all in all was just a disaster. Trash this one, move on to something else. |
Judge: Sega ,Andrew Awful. This makes my head hurt. It's some form of military riff with 909 snares combines with random piano and pizzicato riffs. There is a halfway decent break for a few patterns in the middle, but it's lost amidst all the incoherent banging. Not a keeper. |
Judge: Weinstein ,Jacob This song would maybe work in a black and white movie called Attack of the Radioactive Spiders at the scene where millions of deformed radioactive spiders are devouring a bloody pig. Otherwise, I don't think it has much use. The percussion doesn't seem to grab a beat. Maybe try using less snares. Work the percussion out from a familiar beat. Also, the samples are all out of tune. |
Judge: Steele ,Matthew It is an interesting piece. Somewhat odd, but in a good sense. The beginning starts in pieces, and I am asking myself "When will it start?" Sounds Eerie, I like the piano/string melodies. Great drumlines, and background. The piece is very original (partly because it is odd, but also very unique). The tracker has good technique. Doesn't overcomplicate things but gets his/her point across very well. The samples are all in tune with each other. Some are a little buzzy or strange, but they fit the piece :). Overall, I like it. A good piece, not perfect, but good. I can't point out any major errors, so it _must_ be good :). |
Judge: Hesse ,Liam The percussion and mixing in this piece sound messy, the piano too random and the samples of dubious quality. They're tuned correctly, at least. |
