Hmm, havn't heard a song of this style on MC6 yet. Some of the wide panning, like the first few orders on instruments 2-6 are a little too far. Actually it doesn't look like the author paid much attention to full panning, just if it was left or right. Using instruments and envelopes could create a smoother, more professional sound. While the song is quite ok, technically it's not much. I do note the use of simple effects though, it's a start. Using volume slide effects rather than setting the volume at every row will make a less blocky sound when fading up for example in pattern 3 channel 5. While this song definately belongs in the rookie catagory I can see some potential in the author.

Awesome piece. Sounds like a garage band seession. One dude starts off, and everybody jumps in, and they start to rok! A few sample flaws. The bass guitar at around 2:00 shouldn't be made to play some notes that high, either use another bass guitar sample or go down on the scale, it sounds "tracked" if you do it like that. Great piece, hope it makes 2nd round.

Rox my sox, huh? Maybe right into the dirty hamper, perhaps. I can hear the Metallica influence in this song (yes, even from the Welcome Home Sanitarium-esque intro that was prevalent throughout your entire song) but even you should know that the time that it takes for a power chord to change isn't an entire beat as some of your changes in the electric guitar show. Cut off the first guitar a split second after you start the second note, it will make a lot of difference. Give it an ending of some kind, don't just let it loop. You might also want to add a few more samples, or just get better ones. Unfortunately, this song does not rox my sox, shoez, or pantz.

The song shows that you have tracked some original songs before, although i found that one of your bass samples was out of tune. Your use of powerchords shows me that this is the type of music you like, and you have taken some time to listen how it is used. Your use of the break is nice, although the lead sounded very synthetic when your other samples were all "real" sounding. I think that your drums needed more variance, and you used the same drum roll almost every 2 patterns. The powerchords needed a loop as they cut out too soon and why was the snare drum always panned to the right speaker? The song needed just one more strong lead and perhaps another break, and it would have been above average, although this is one of the better rookie songs i have had to judge. Good Luck

Nice Intro, gradually building to the main theme. Solo in the middle of the piece was good, but short. Can't listen to this song too much, drums & guitar numbing after a while. Addition of vocals would have added to the effect of the song vastly. Overall a nice piece, although it seems sorta short.

Electric guitar is one of the hardest instruments to track even somewhat realistically, and for me the number one rule has been that you shouldn't even try without a good set of samples covering different strings and playing techniques. One of the weakest technical points of this tune is that most of the samples are constantly played outside their optimal pitch range, which makes a "realistic" sounding result completely unachievable, even if you possess all the other skills required to track a quality tune. Sometimes the power chord samples ring on top of each other before cutting off, why not use a ^^^ command or set the volume to zero at a chord change, or better yet, use the same channel for both of 'em? The mixing is, um, original, the bass on two channels is WAY too loud and as so many times before, just about everything seems to blare out in your face at full volume. Anyway, I do think it is a good idea to track a straight rock tune, it's a challenge, and most mods with guitar in them are this teknofunk-whatever type stuff these days. So keep working on it.
