This song is good for a rookie, better then most of the rookie tunes I judged so far ( and it's the last rookie tune I have to judge! ). The song has good chords - but it begins too slow. The piano solo later is pertty good, but sometimes the piano sounds like hasitating, and loses the rythm. The solo from order 9 is maybe good - but the sample doesn't fit the tune. In order 10, for example, the solo is good, and the instrument fit the song perfectly, and it is a great solo there. good luck - tracker - and keep doing good songs! vel.

Ruminate is an atmospheric piece, with no serious flaws. It has high-quality samples, a good atmosphere, probably the best horn solo I've ever heard in a tracked song, and an altogether well-made feel. While there was nothing too original about it (it had that old jazz feel), that didn't detract from the song itself. Very nicely done.

Rookie!? What the Fudge!? Before I make any comments I just want to tell whoever is reading this to download this song immediately... you'll be glad you did. Ok, with that out of the way, I'll just say that this was my favorite song that I was assigned to judge. Rookie, Intermed, Vet, this song beat all 14 of 'em. First of all, the beat was from scratch, and I heavily dig that. Second of all, the beat varied dynamically, and I really dig that. Third, the song has so much "depth" and "realistic sound" to it. Samples were brilliantly chosen and utilized. Fourth, the lead insturments (the trumpet and echo/synth/piano had great entrances, exits, melodies, solos, and team-ups. Fifth, transitions were perfect and the song as a whole moved so well, that soon, rather than critiquing the song, I was drifting off and being carried away by it's sweet sound. To wrap it all up, this was the only rookie song to totally captivate me, and the only song in my judgebox to get the score that it did. Kudos to the author! For the author may be a rookie at tracking, but they are *definately* not new to writing music.

One of my top picks (of all MC6 songs in all categories), you create a nice, warm landscape of sounds with light percussion, strong chords, good piano work, and decent panning (the piano seemed a little bit extreme; more central would have been nice). The criticsms I have fall not in the song itself but rather your technical skills: 1) the panning of the electric piano is mainly central and varies around that point (try to place each note of the chord at a different panning position for a "wider" effect), 2) some notes of the piano were out of range of the sample (use a few more piano samples in the instrument), 3) the horn could also use a few more samples and a tad more expression because it did sound a little bit fake on one of the runs, and 4) the song probably could have been about 1-2 minutes longer. Good job!

very pretty intro, excellent sample selection, kinda light R&B, Jazz blues piano, drum & bass sort of feel, and it's very well put together, the piano lead is very pretty, and the sample is -excellent- the trumpet is a bit general-midi sounding, as is the chime celeste or whatever, which comes in with the trumpet solo starting, which is a bit loud... very well written, a very beautiful piece, a bit short though :)

This is a very good rookie tune. Maybe the composer is a rookie at tracking, but certainly not new to music and music theory in general. The song has a very clear sound and is very varied. The piano play is quite impressive, and the ending is good. The transitions and harmonies are also very good, and far beyond the usual rookie standard. Lacking some tracking technique, but that usually comes with time. Not that original, but certainly not totally unoriginal either. High sample quality. The arrangement could use a little more variation though. Overall, a very artistic song with great potential.
