Judge: Hesse ,Liam This song sounds very empty. The ride cymbal is too loud, distracting the listener from the rest of the song - or at least what there is of it. This song really doesn't have any depth at all. The percussion is repetitive, the piano is monotonous, those fingersnaps become annoying very quickly, and the sporadic bursts of tom toms sound quite inexplicable. A very weak song, and there isn't even really that much of it. (I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not... ;^) ) Still, at least the piano sample is in tune with the bass pluck. Sadly, that alone will never help you reach top five. |
Judge: Hansen ,Torben This is with 99% certainty a converted tune. Can't remember the name of the tune, but it's one of those old 80's charttunes. The bassline and the fingersnaps is what made me remember that old song. What am I to think about such a tune? It's not even well converted - and it's boring as hell. Monotone - if you really have to convert something this obvious, why not try to make something out of it instead of repeating the same piano-melody over and over again. The originality get's a big 0 - no points for copying here. Form is too monotone. Technique is ok, judging from what is present. Only positive thing, that can be said is that the samples are tuned and are of an ok quality. The rest is not worthy of any more comments. I would've had more respect for this tune had it only been an own composition and not a convertion. Next time you make something for a competition - make sure it's your own stuff and not a real song. |
Judge: Dahlin ,Nicolas That hi-hat thing really hurts my ears - it sounds like you're using it at a too high frequency. Well, I know this song already. If you must use this song instead of making one yourself, why don't you put some strings, brass instruments, whatever in it to spice it up a little? This is boring! It sounds like something straight out of Larry Laffer, save the high quality sample set. The piano jumps way to the right in beginning of blocks 6 and 11. |
Judge: Lesuisse ,Anthony This is really original. But it is unfinished (I hope so). Please continue it, and change the piano sample, do variations on the melody (which is too much repetitive). Avoid that the bass and the piano play the same thing. This song was certainly made in one or two hours. CONTINUE working on it ! |
Judge: Isaacson ,Michael While the snap sample is cute and this peice stands away from the normal realm of tracking, the major flaw is lack of depth. First of all, the author wrote half a song then repeated it. While this is not bad in itself, those 7 patterns are far to simular to each other to be truely unique in the song. Also, a few more channels may have been useful, if kept to the quartet sound, for the song was a little bland and hollow. With this style and a few dozen more patterns, this could be something to talk about. Very creative. |
