very cool acid jazzy track; all tracks sit very nicely in the mix with each track equally sharing the volume and panning. Excellent string samples (12) & (17). Pattern 11 very nice, love the faint stings with bass line a nice and well placed rest in the song. Good usage of the volume set to make samples feel full & in surround sound (especially the bassline). Definitely knows how to program a beat, usage of hihat, shakers, claps, and toms is superb and on que. Love the panning effect on sample 3 (crash). Sample 20 a little weird but still fits in nicely. The song flows nicely and kept me interested!

Good drum beat, you manage to vary it pretty well. I like your choice of melodic samples but not your choice of percussive samples. The panning on your strings is a bit harsh, sometimes it seems like your whole song is going back and forth, which isn't too enjoyable. Some channel panning instead of panning envelopes might have done the trick better. I like the ending. Listening to it again..... Sometimes the percussion is too loud and starts to drown out whatever else is going on at the time, I don't think that's what you were intending. The accordian sample (if that's what it is) adds a nice touch. If this were round 2, I would give it a pretty high rating in the technical category.

The author should try experimenting with different volume levels, especially on the drums. The song name should have been 'What bass can do' instead of 'What words can do'; the bassline is awesome, although there is hardly more than two different patterns of it ;) The strings sound a bit weird where they're played at low pitches. The leads could need some echo. The author should have chosen different drum samples. Snare and hihats are ok, but the bass drum gets annoying (maybe that's not only the sample's fault, but also that of the missing volume changes), and the clap sounds too artificial and weak. Some portamentos are disturbing the otherwise professional sound of the tune. Tip: Vary the panning of your different string channels, so that not all of them are on the same pan position all the time.

I have to say that this is definately NOT a rookie song, and was very well tracked and has an enjoyable tune. This is a lot better than some of the veteran tunes entered this year, and is certainly enjoyable. The general tune manages to survive from beginning to end, and with some work this could be a very good song. The drum/general percussion could use a little more variation. Unfortunately, the only real aspect of this song that keeps it from being much better is the lack of originality. I know that I have heard this almost exact tune before somewhere, and while this song changes from time to time from the tune that i recognise, it relies too much on borrowing from another tune.

I like this track. Nice downbeat feel, decent samples, good flow, mixing, tuning... I can't really find any bad flaws in this piece. It's very *very* good for a rookie. The lull with the flute section is nice. Good percussive tracking, too. A very good track.
