Judge: Trencsenyi ,Zsolt First, about your samples... they helped to create an african atmosphere, and lifted your song to a better mediocre level. Also there are some slight technical faults, incorrect loopings... yes I know setting up the loops are the worst messy work for a composer and I weren't mention it, whether they not being audible... but they are :) The whole arrangement is simple, the chords You used are nice, but very repetitive, You just play them through the whole song over and over, and the melody is not that kind of which can catch the people's attention, so You have to improve in these cases... A very bright piece of your song are the drums, they are well tracked, those additional synth effects are interesting, but really not enough to kick your song into the second round :( Do not forget, that's only my opinion, maybe another judges tell You more nice words, but what I really want is to draw your attention onto the weaknesses and help You to become more skilled. |
Judge: Buffoni ,Mirko Five-star ratings song. This piece is perfect basically under every point of view: perfect volume equalization and stereo balancing, crystallin quality samples, and a talented author who shows very high skills in musical tracking. Animals and natural sounds introduce a component of relax which rend this song a pleasure for ears. The bass sample is very clean, and choirs are well equalized to not saturate the band dynamics. Retrigs on hihats are very well used, and percussions have the right reverbering component that fits perfectly with the contest of the song. I've rewinded and relistened to this song several times for several days, and more I listen, more it convinces me. Ideal for newage soft background nights. My respect to the author of this wonderful piece of music. |
Judge: Fok ,Bernard A very flowing and soothing piece of music that is well put together. _ With the exception of the birds, the other background sound effects during _ the song was hard to get use to. _ All the instruments were well balanced in terms of volume. _ The strings fit very nicely together as one and produced some very smooth _ harmonies. _ Good bass line and beat throughout the whole song, though lacking any _ variation. Adding to that, the congo drums line produced a very rhythmic _ effect to the whole song. _ Would have liked to hear a solo of some kind. _ Very static throughout the whole song, lacking any climaxes and anti-climaxes._ |
Judge: Jagdmann ,Dirk A mystical beginning paired with a lots of percussion in the beat tracks make a good start. But eventually this leads to nothing and the song stays like background music for a game or something similar. No highlight, no melody, no change in style or rythm appears. The song is very well balanced with samples, volume, echo etc. but the listener is waiting for the main part all the time. I call this song avarage |
Judge: Swoboda ,Matt This song has quite a heavy Scorpik influence, and the birdsong is a pretty tired way of starting a song, but this is a nice, clean piece of music. Technically this composer is very competent, and this is well mixed and clean. The sample set is pretty good and the sounds all work well together, and the bongo-ish sounds are excellent. It has a nice chord progression backed up by a strong but simple bassline, although it does get quite repetitive. It certainly needs more variety. I think it would have been better if you had used less sound effects and used more of a lead throughout - when you do use a lead, it sounds good. If it had more variety and perhaps a little more originality, this would be an excellent song. As it is, it's still very enjoyable. But please, please, don't use the birdsong again. =) |
Judge: Torreele ,Phil A very nice smooth ambient style song. The artist did a nice job of presenting a nice melody and slowly bringing the song up to speed. However, I found a few things that were wrong with this song that could have made it more than it is. First off, as understandably tempting it is to copy/cut/and paste a song together based out of a set of 4 to 8 patterns, DON'T DO IT. This song was basically the same patterns repeating themselves only with things added or removed. The other thing I found myself searching for while listening to the song was a lead of some sort. There was nothing to really grasp onto. I felt myself fall into a lull and quite honestly made it difficult to focus. =] Perhaps a mellow female singer would have been the right touch this song needed to quelch that need of definition. This song has a lot of potential, and I think that with time and more work it could be made into a song people would actually buy in a store if it were on a CD, but at it's current state it falls short and instead feels... unfinished. |
Judge: Wu ,Sherman Reminds me of Falcon's "Cosmic Outflow". I love what ou did with the special effects. In fact, they became an integral part of the song. I like the development of the song. I like the layered leads of the flute synths. The only complaint would be that you repeated the effects in the same order in the same way too often. You really need to change it. Variations spark more interest. Yes, the effects support the beat. But, like drumloops, they get boring. So, even with something as interesting as these wild effects, please vary them. |
Judge: Youkhana ,Kevin Very well done samples were there I liked the beat nice and grovey samples were not bad but few were used in the wrong area. |
Judge: Collins ,Chris This whole song sounds very much like nature. There are animal sounds throughout, though I would have done without the growl noise. The song's problem is that it is too repetitive. It sounds very nice, but it just gets boring. The intro and the outro have cool sounding chimes, which IMHO should have been much more prominent throught the song. It would be excellent if the song sounded much more like the intro and the outro. |
