I must say first that this is a very good song. so why did he get 55 ? because of the samples. The samples quality is bad. The lead may still be understoodable - but the rythm section gives you a headache. And the panning is to aggresive. The tempo change from order 10 is good - but sounds like a whole different song - and that's a mistake. The leas here is wonderful - and the flute afterwards is even better- because the difference between the flute and the background voices is interesting. The solo between order 18-23 is also good and interesting, but the lead that comes after him - order 24-27 - repeated too many times. The end - just like the beginning, souds like a whole different song - but is good. summery - get yourself some good samples, man! vel.

I like it because it sound like the C64 SID (at least the drums). The size of the song is too big for a chiptune like one.

YES! Late-80's video game music! I love it! Chip samps and 8 channels, this was a great tune. The panning envelopes were good, the samples were great sounding and the melody line throughout was wonderful. At order 10 it switched to a jazzed up version and this fit QUITE well. Very few things wrong with this tune. For the genre it was aimed for, it hit the mark well. Good job!

This sounds like an old sid-tune. In my opinion, itīs a bit over average, especially because of the good technique. The samples sounds just like sid-samples and Iīm sure thatīs the idea, so nothing to complain about as far as that goes. There a pretty good amount of variation in the tune and the melodies are rather enjoyable, but thereīs nothing that really catches my attention about it. The technique is good though, but since it pretty much follows the standards of a song of this sort, itīs not that original. Not bad in any way, but at least to me, not overly exciting either.

Whoever made this song should have been hired by Capcom. It had the exact same feel as the music in every MegaMan game. But this isn't a bad thing, in fact, it's more original than you might think. I also liked the intro to it, with the feel of one of those old Commodore64 flight simulators. Alright, I'm going off topic. Anyway, the samples were high quality when they were meant to be, and just distortion, sometimes, though fitting in with the motif of the song. Although it went over the 4:00 mark, I kept listening after it. It's unfortunate that it used the same basic drumbeat over and over again, and didn't have many of the tempo and key changes that I've come to expect from veteran entries. Still, a very nice, angry piece.

WOW! C64 4ever! What, is 3 channels not enough for you? :) Lots of technical skill displayed in this song. Sounds like early C64 MoN stuff, in fact. Especially the middle part. I really like how this song was executed overall, I can't say much bad about it because the style is all that matters when you're using such samples, and you've got the style! :) Something I'm wondering is how you got the samples... did you sample stuff off of your C64? Because that's what this sounds like... (Disclaimer: Emergency Vote!)

This a very very well written song, BUT I am completely baffled at the artists choice of samples. It just really bugs me.. how *incredibly rocking!!* this song could have been with BETTER SAMPLES! Especially the percussion! I mean, I don't see what in the world could have kept the author from replacing those "fuzzy/clippy" sounds with real snares that have bite, drums that boom, and cymbals that carry. The song is incredibly well written, has beautifull solos, sweet melody, progressive mood transitions, and everything, *but* it's presented through "fuzzy/synthy* samples! The samples that are used give the songs *overall sound* a fuzzy and distorted edge that is just not pleasing to the ear. I guarantee a batch of well-chosen samples could have rocketed this song's score dramatically.

This was in my opinion a well produced full sounding chip tune. Very remeniscient of the C64 days. The panning sounded a little thin in places which may have been caused by the flange. Some parts of the chorus were stop and go and didn't flow as nicely as it could. These were only minor points. I'm not too sure if I like the way the tune moves into the slow part to end. It sounds a little forced to me. The author has good knowledge of the tracker and it's commands. There is plenty of change in the tune and doesn't repeat too much allowing the listener to stay interested. Overall a very strong and cleanly produced tune. This will surely make it's mark in MC history.

The moment this song started, I knew it was unlike any other entry. The introduction is reminisent of the old days of music, when form was greater than samples the size of planets. However, I was not expecting a "chip" tune to be half a meg (545K). When I saw the song's size, I must admit I got a preconcieved notion of something much different and more elaborate than what I heard. The introduction is wonderful, yet I swear I thought Fast Tracker was skipping like a scratched CD. Maybe a bit less repetition would have done this part justice, or rather a little more variation on the melody? The break where the melody fades out and everything seems to slow down (order 9), takes some getting used to, but now that I've listened to it so many times, it does go with the song. I think it was missing a bit more music in the transition, as it almost sounds as if there is a complete pause. The part which follows it is pretty well composed. I am glad you changed the beat a few times, although it would seem the beat was mostly the same inbetween; a little more variation could've made it a lot less vegetating. On the other hand, I do love the lead. It brought shivers just listening to it! And when I looked at Pattern 29, channel 4, I just thought to myself that you must have lots of time on your hands ;-)... I mean I never saw the use of THAT before. I can't describe it any more. Hehe, I lack words here. At first I thought it was just piles of effects for no reason, but when I looked at it closely, it really does add to the song. One thing which got quite annoying though, was that beeping sound (sample 13) every 3/4 of the beat (starting from Order 18), maybe you could have toned it down a bit, every now and then, or maybe just skipped it entierly. Overall, a good composition, but I must repeat one thing again. Was there really a need to have sample #2 as large as 118K? Or to have 5 samples larger than 30K? Other than the filesize, and it being slightly repetative at times, a great song, and it will stay on my hard drive after this compo! Keep tracking please!

Authentic C64 sound. I really like the form, as the beginning follows the ol' good C64 mainstream style quite faithfully, only to switch into today's mainstream a bit later. Nice variance to the usual scene stuff, but the music is nowhere near remarkable. Good tracking technique and mixing, though.
