Judge: Lee ,Elliott A very nicely written song with pretty good vocals. This should be an example for all other trackers to follow. Well-orchestrated percussion, great flute work for all of its short cameos, solid bass, and a catchy melody. The only (picky) criticism I have is that the brass sounds real fake, but if you're going for that small-band feeling with a guy playing a synth, it fits well. Technically, very competent. Style-wise, spot on. Congrats; you earned it. |
Judge: Rudge ,Bryan Finally a piece that I actually enjoy judging :) An unoriginal tune in its genre, but as far as tracking goes, a VERY original choice of genre so its a good start :) Minor discrepancies that stuck in my mind: panning.. zzzzzz.. this tune could really be brought out so much more if panning had been a little more dramatic. 27 channels? although this tune has some complicated sections, Im not sure that 27 channels are really needed to bring out the details.. I can recall some dizzy tunes that had the same effect in 4 :).. I didnt really think the vocals were totally necessary although I will admit to them being catchy enough to stay on my mind for a long time.. you might want to give them a TINY touch of echo to make it sound a little more pro.. drum"solo" @ orders 31-33 shouldnt really be here, it felt as though it should come when the drums and bass are the only things going (like @ 33->)... noteworthy positives: the progression at orders 20-29 was EXACTLY like the entire song: "Autumn Leaves" by Coldcut on the TWO AD album which I LOVE so you got brownie points for that one... and the flute trill @ 33 rocked :) nice work... |
Judge: Girard ,Marc Very original style, it's kinda rare with get some "Salsa/Dance/Latin" Modules. Cool vocals too. Kinda Catchy! :) Makes your foot tap! Watch out for the piano, it sounds weird sometimes. Very impressive technique. A strong entry. Very enjoyable. |
Judge: Brown ,Yannis Cool latin piece. Clear and precise orchestration gives this piece a crisp feel. The piano though could have been a little quieter as it over dominates the foreground. The tune sounds a little too general midi, mainly because of the execution and the sounds of the instruments. The Brass I feel had too much staccato. The piano in the bridge also was too staccato'd, use of Envelopes and perhaps NNA's or volume slides to make the piano sound more realistic. A real piano doesn't just cut when another note is played. There's a slight resonance even if the notes are not held. This also contributes to the General midi sound. Panning could have been better. The panning was using default positions a little left and right of middle alternating each channel. Use of IT's features like Pitch Pan Separation, and Pan Swing would have given a better effect. Volume swing is also good in tunes like this where chords and repeating accompliment are used, as they provide a more 'human' feel to it. Other than that, a good tune, catchy and reasonably original as tracked music goes. |
Judge: Putzolu ,Jean-pierre This tune is great. Itīs not my taste at all, but it is outstanding an perfect in all ways. |
Judge: Rohrbach ,KarstenW latin style tune - vocal lines - good and solid production - brass samplees could be better |
