Judge: Brown ,Yannis My GOD.. this is the first tune which has truly offended me as a musician! This (and I use this term with hesitance, 'tune') was dominated by un-tuned samples, and a wailing pitch-bent voice lead sample, something to make dogs howl at. I can not see any distinguishable logic to the chords, or melody, and was basically a sequence of random samples. I wanted to switch this tune off after the first 1/2 a minute, and it only got worse. I'm sorry but there is no point wasting my time commenting any further on this tune. The author should be berated for entering this tune into Veteran!! The ONLY positive comment I can make about this piece is the title perfectly fits the song. "Magic Mushrooms" which the author must have eaten in abundance before tracking. |
Judge: Pickard ,Jonathan Poorly synchronized samples, poor tuning, off-key leads, truly uninspired tracking, random noisy samples,... there's no way I can write a constructive review of this song when it's virtually unlistenable. Unless you were trying for the amorphous, wild originality score, but as hard as I try, it's still noise. |
Judge: Almon ,Barry nice mellow sound; good beginning however after the first couple of patterns, volume changes needed to be made. Most samples were played at full volume. Too many high frequency sounds, sample 2 would have been could as a bass or some sort of low bassy sound to balance the mix. So many high samples makes the notes sound out of tune. The sample quality was quite good with some of the strings being 16-bit. Overall a good track, a suggestion would be to use panning to make each track sit in the right place. Very good placement of samples just needs a little work on the sequencing of sample 2. Superb usage of the pattern repeat effect to control volume fading. |
Judge: Telgarsky ,Matus You should have more samples; having so few makes for a very repetitive and hard to listen to song. Some of the samples are out of tune. Also, watch out for using lots of gross intervals, which further worsens the listening quality of this song. |
Judge: DelCarpio ,Derek piano chord playing is too simple, sounds choppy trip effects overpowering chord structure lacks direction |
