Judge: Friedly ,Matt very fun space samba piece :P congratulations on creating a new style... the sound is kinda cluttered though in the intro before the break style drums kick in and a bit of the lead flute harmonies at the beginning don't quite work anywhere near comfortably... -very- killer acid effect the transition could have been a bit more interesting other than just a cut... pattern 34 rules me... excellent technical aspects... this song is creative in just about every aspect possible and it sounds really good too, samples are nice, and the entire song is -great- oh oh yes, the ending is -perfection- pattern 46 is a materpiece by itself! excellent job man... |
Judge: Prouteau ,Thierry Is it a joke ? In any case, it seems. The sample one is absolute ugly. Maybe without the forward loop it would be better but i doubt. Is there any chord progression behind this mess ? The bass channel (5) don't "stick" to your chords, it just seems like notes thrown into FT 2. Your samples are not bad, although i don't understand why some are 16 bits quality for such a result.... There is simply a lack of harmony. It seems as if you have tracked every channel one by one without wondering if they sound good together. You have to try harder to produce a music. |
Judge: Jonsson ,Agust ICK. Horrible track. Sure, you got good bits in there and you seem to know you're way around in the tracker, you have very nice samples, you basically seem to know quite well what you're doing... but frankly the song itself is badly disharmonious in parts and it really makes me wonder what's going on in your head. Definitely not a track I'd keep or recommend to anyone. Heck, even that bonus tune at the end has it's disharmonious flaws which saddens me a bit because it's obvious you can do better. |
Judge: Norilo ,Vesa This sounds like a fusion of jazz and jungle. Good idea, altough it is already widely used. The delay echo in the intro part is overdone. I think the flute-like sound should be echoed instead of those hits. Some sour notes. Mood aims at jazzy, but the author lacks knowledge of music theory - particulary jazz theory to accomplish that. In many aspects far from veteran material. It was chaotic and didn't manage to hold my interest for long. Almost everything in this tune could be much better. Anyway, I see you have put effort into this one, and that is the most important thing. |
Judge: Telgarsky ,Matus Well you definitely have good technique and the story is unique and creative.. but simply sometimes I get really sick of what is playing or it stops being music and just noise. |
Judge: Mcphesron ,Jonathan I'll start with the samples. They were actually pretty nice; no clicks or low-quality samples to be found. ... I tried to figure out what style this song was supposed to be while I was listening to it. It sounds like some flavor of progressive fusion jazz. The piano that backs up a major portion of the piece is often dissonant and syncopated. The syncopation can be passed off as part of the style and so on, but the dissonance I've got to say doesn't belong. This is jazzy and for the most part jazz should be easy to listen to. The piano scrapes on the edges of the nerves and generally causes dischord where otherwise there could have been harmony. Now, a word or two about song development. I don't want to sound cruel, but this song had a very random feel to it. There was very little intro consisting of dissonant beeps, no climax or recognizable theme, random pieces of development inserted any-which-way. The rhythm, while rather canned, was not bad at all, except when it suddenly burst into a full climax of percussive noise, which is about all it can be called. There's a fine line between fast, complex drumbeats and too-fast random-sounding messes of percussive sounds. This stuff definitely crosses that line. The song was also a tad too long. I kept waiting and waiting for it to end after four minutes, at which point I realized it was playing very slowly. The song ended up lasting almost a full two minutes over the four that I was required to listen to. And it's a good thing I heard the last two minutes, because they were brilliant. A lead comes in and deftly ties together the random threads woven throughout the rest of the song. After it's done its thing, the volume suddenly drops and a very unsatisfying ending is conducted with a few solo instruments. In conclusion... yeah, this person's got talent and can write a pretty mean jazz tune, but went a little too far off the deep end with this trippy piece. |
