Judge: Dahlin ,Nicolas It's amazing! - I don't believe it! - The lead does the exact same thing for 4 minutes 27secs, save a few breaks, and it doesn't get one bit tiresome. What a melody! And those barely hearable um...ah...well samps 20+21 - they really contribute to the feeling of speed - I feel like the song is one great ride on a rollercoaster at a wild speed. I've listened to this tune approximately 50 time over the last month or so - and I'm still not tired of it. |
Judge: Mccuen ,Steve Fast. Middle has some very redemying qualities but would have liked to see this played up a bit more. |
Judge: JiménezChapresto ,Eduardo An originally tune that uses many different elements, but the whole sounds a little bit bad. Some parts are chipboard. Sample quality, form and technique are ordinary, but it underlines because of the originality. |
Judge: Pakula ,Taylor Some really cool sounds set this song apart from most of the other songs in this style out there. Unfortunately, cool sounds do not a fantastic track make. The song suffered from lifeless and repetitive (even for this style) drums. Once they became audible, though, the rhythms were kind of nice, but you could only hear them for a brief time at order 41. The "hit" on chans. 20 and 21 at order 17 could have used some delay to add a degree of complexity. The strings at order 35 were somewhat too loud and overpowering. The interplay of the different resonant sounds was a plus. There's really not much to say about this song, good or bad. Overall just run-of-the-mill techno/dance. |
Judge: West ,David One of the few songs in my judging repitore I actually enjoyed. The intro was great. The riff was catchy and dreamy. The percussion fit. One minor problem were the chords in pattern 49. They didn't fit at all with the rest. The song gets a little ambient but not overly so. It all works. Samples were good but a little bland. A lead would've helped this song. Good luck on your next song! |
Judge: Landekic ,Bojan Well, well, well,... this song was certanly worth my time. Overall, I like it, it's a song I wish I could get into and change it though, and that's just what I'm going to let you know about. It's beginning, it's middle, and it's ending are good, but that's pretty much the problem. The piano-bell (sample 16) keeps playing the same melody, transposed every now and then, throughout most of the song. I did like it at the beginning, but it did require at least a few more verses to keep my attention! The "Psychotic Beats" (sample 13) could have used a touch of echo in the channels when it was played, or maybe a sampled echo. It just sounds as if it was stuck into the song in a hurry. On the other hand, the "beats" are great. Extremly repetative unfortunately, but that's exactly what this song needed, or at least from the drum-point-of-view. I thought it was a sample, but was pleasantly surprised to find the beats were tracked! Maybe a little more base on the beats next time? One concern though. The break which happens at Order 49 sounds as if you forgot to finish it. The hard left panned clap (sample 1) needs an echo, or not to be panned the way it was; it sounds just too raw. And again we return to the same melody of the beginning.... Even though I liked the song very much at the beginning, it's repetitiveness held it at ground level, and the climax I expected it to reach on several occasions never happened. One thing I looked at after listening to the song was the tracking style. When I looked at the way you used samples, it would seem this song might as well have been writtein using Fast Tracker. None of the NNA features nor DTC (duplicate type checking) features had been used; almost all but 3-4 instruments were set to the ordinary note-cut command. There was maybe 1-2 panning envelopes as well. In all honesty, a little more work on using the NNAs, and panning, and maybe the song would've have used up to 30 channels!!! Regardless, a fine piece of work. It needed a little more of it, but fine nevertheless. Keep it up!!!! |
