Judge: Friedly ,Matt arg.... right in the beginning channels 1 and 3... it's a bad idea to play the same note of the same sample in a nearby panning area without a delay or offset or such... it mutes it too much... makes it sound kinda ugly... all you're doing is ramping the sample volume another 100% more... enough of that, it's about the only technical thing i hear trackingwise... samples are fairly nice... but oh, i can tell you put some soul into this piece, it truly grabs my heart in this intro... which sets up the mood for the excellent sounding pipes... -very- nice samples here... mmm. i'm going to write this to wave and listen a few times over, too many channels for my gus to handle :) but you're doing some -excellent- work here, i love this guitar solo and the entire end sequence... -very- nice job... |
Judge: Prouteau ,Thierry Wosh ! I was awaiting for such a great piece of orchestral song. Everybody knows it really hard to compose a realistic song with strings, violins, etc... and you sure have skills because you made it ! I have a very few things to say (except congratulations i mean) : - The end of your song is too simple (volume slide). Maybe you should have worked a bit more to produce something original. - The guitar on the second part of your song (pattern 17) is maybe not enough agressive. It looks like some synthetic guitar. I'm sorry but that's all i have to say. I'm really impressed by the result of the very few number of samples you used. Work & talent is definitely what make the difference. |
Judge: VanOlmen ,Erland Nice, original module. No problems, technical nor musical. Sorry for this VERY short comment but I just realised that the actual deadline is at Sun 10/8 00:00 GMT instead of Sun 10/8 24:00 GMT! I'm terrible sorry. |
Judge: Jarvis ,Chris Opening with strings is unoriginal but is done very effectively in this song. I especially like the riff in the strings in pattern 4. I always find slow, heavy drum beats are difficult to track but this is a good attempt although there is still some work required on the percussion. I do like the rimshot (eg in orders 6,7). The tunes are good throughout the song and the key change at order 10 is effective. The section starting at order 17 moving through to the end is well done, though the sound you're after is very difficult to achieve. There is something missing.. maybe more bass is required to give this section a bit more guts. On the whole, a solid tune. |
Judge: Jonsson ,Agust hmmm... the song starts out fairly nicely, but runs of out ideas in the end. Good tracking, good samples, but lack of better ideas drag the song itself down, it's too predictable as it is, and the simple fade out bit at the end further hints at the lack of ideas of how to continue the song. |
Judge: Hu ,Kochun The pseudo-orchestral style doesn't work very well here. For most of the song, we expect some kind of climax, but end up with the incessantly repeating chord progression. The climax, when it comes, is oddly anti-climatic, for it's merely the same thing as the buildup but with a constantly beating snare drum. And where's the ending? The chords are not resolved, they just repeat ad infinitum, ad nauseum. |
