*File Specs* [Filename]m6i-fgq.xxx [Title]Forgotten Quest [Total playing time]05:07 This is a song was already assigned as a required song i had to judge in the first round, since i was quite extend in mentioning a lot of technical and general aspects around this song i will not bother the author with the same lines, i still have not changed my opinion when listening to the song again and also did not noticed anything i have forgotten in the last comment. It still sounds as nice as it did the first time :)

Fine work. But not marvellous. The samples sounds great, but sometimes are not well used. Drums, for instance, sounds loud. The echo at the beginning nearly destroy it. Overall, good orchestration, though. This style is not too common on the scene, so I can't blame your originality. The melodies sounds nice, but they're not cachy. That is not a great flaw on this style.

This song works reasonably well but ultimately fails to completely captivate the audience. A lot of good ideas are expressed here however the author needs to work more on defining and building a strong theme to carry the song. As it is it tends to wander a little too aimlessly. Some of the samples could be a little cleaner and the drums need some work to prevent the rhythm sounding too mechanical.

Slightly above average in originality. Although a standard ambient feel, there has been a great deal of thought given to the track's composition, and some unexpected ideas have been injected into it in places, but maybe not always in the right places! The form builds slowly from a rather drawn out and sparse beginning, that would benefit from building up quicker, within the first 4 patterns, with more instruments joining slightly earlier. It doesn't really reach its form until around pattern 9, and the main theme isn't reached until pattern 16. However, transitions between themes are implemented well, and there is a constant feel of uninterrupted flow throughout the piece. Technique is relatively good overall, but I noted your use of Surround, this does not translate too well on some soundcards, you can created depth without having to use Surround. Panning is used effectively, and there is a nice wide sound to the track. The leads need greater volume accents on them to bring them above the percussion, and to give a more realistic feel to their sound. Sample quality is average to good. Nothing outstanding here, but the samples are all used effectively in the track, with good use of background and atmospheric samples complementing the others well. Overall this track is definitely enjoyable to listen to, but was possibly put together in slightly the wrong order! The opening should arrive marginally quicker and build into the main theme that is at pattern 16 onwards. The percussion solo is well written, but may have melded better if used later in the track, as an interim between the main theme. As the track stands, until pattern 16 there is a minor lack of clear musical direction making the piece appear to drag, then from 16 onwards the piece begins and is over. Take patterns 16 onwards and build around them. Harmonies and progressions are in general clear and interesting, creating a mood of reflect and thought. This track has a great deal of potential, is well written, but needs more arrangement.

A nice and peaceful piece of music. Listenable song, with good technique and ok samples, but too boring music. Nothing, that would interest the listener a lot, happened in the whole song. In ords 17-21 the song was much better; fascinating, interesting and living, but before and after that - nothing spectacular or amazing. One good thing in this song is your use of percussion. It was good, and made the song little bit more interesting, though you used the same drumming almost through the whole song. You used well transitions during the song, but they were pretty small, and should have been notabler. That would've made the song more interesting. But don't get the thought, that I only found bad things in your song. It was enjoyable music with good technique, and is much better than an average song. But still, it's too boring.

I thought that the medieval sound created in the opening part of this song was good and could have been further pursued (it seems to lose that atmosphere as it develops). Nonetheless the song builds up nicely with a good recurring theme that has a very lamenting appeal. The orchestration is well done throughout and tracked nicely without overusing the panning. The percussion is not bad but the sound effects need some work - perhaps a higher quality sample. The transition at order 14 needs smoothing out but orders 17 onwards are very nice and uplifting with good flute work. The samples are good with some nice envelopes, although the vibrato in some of the lead samples restricts the range in which the samples can be used effectively. Nice job!

Not bad of a tune the samples were misused in some places but othere than that the song was good.

Werd man, you've got my respect. This track is just absolutely fantastically beautiful. It's been playing in for over one and half hour now nonstop and I just can't bring myself to stopping it. This is just too wonderful... Can't exactly say that it's very original, there are bits in it which remind me of other tracks (title track in Leander on amiga, a newage cd I got here etc), but it's very beautifully sculpted together. I just can't bring myself to stop it, and it makes me feel so good, so relaxed, so slightly sad, it really touches me... I really can't complain much about it, in fact I find it hard to concentrade properly on it to make some decent comments on it, I get so carried away with it. You just simply totally blew me away with this track. I'm definitely keeping this one around on my HD.

A really nice chill-out tune. The mood is really well set, and I found myself listening to this several times in succession before I realised I'd just let it play in the background. I imagine I'll be keeping hold of this one. =)

A nice ambient newage tune with a medieval streak through it. Nice smooth instruments, and chords. The drum track was also very suitable, if not a little too over looped. Panning was well done, and well balanced. The tune seems to be lacking a little in the middle, it could have used a bit of power with the Taiko drums, lending it more emotion. The Taiko drums just seem to come in over the top of the song without any motivation. Too much reliance on NNA's to provide reverb. Although it has a nice sound to it, you could have easily done it in less channels. Some lead samples such as the flute are noisy, and could have been done in 16 bit. Work on making the samples which will stand out the most 16 bit, then the rest 8 bit. Many of the samples could have been smaller, with loops earlier, they just ate up a lot of space preventing you from using 16 bit samples where it counted. The ending was a little plain, you could have say finished on a melody or provided a more significant ending, but it wasn't too bad. Good tune overall!
