Time has rushed us towards and past the deadline. Time dictates how the other events will be arranged. Time sets the limits on what we can and can't achieve. It's now time to begin judging the songs. I am pleased with the number of registered judges. However, some people I expected to be judging this year were not able to do so because of their limited time. Included in this newsletter are the complete file listings for everything you will need to judge. Grab the voter assignment pack and get started as soon as you can! This time, we also have a less-serious article. :) Check out the "Top Ten Reasons For Missing the Deadline" article. So long for now. Time for me to go fill out my voting form. =-----------------------------------------------------------------------------= :: "Judging MC4" :: GD / Hornet :: gd@ftp.cdrom.com _____Introduction First of all, I want to thank everyone who has registered as a judge. Together, we will help to make the results of this contest fair, accurate, and complete. _____Mirror Site Zapper of Force Ten has graciously set up a mirror site of our MC4 directory. It is quite fast and has all the songs on it, so if you have trouble with accessing ftp.cdrom.com you may want to give Zapper's site a try. Find the information about how to access it in the "Files" section of this newsletter. _____Voting Assignments All registered judges have been assigned to either Rookie or Veteran songs. Those voting in round 1 will be assigned to approximately 10-15 songs. The file "mc4vrnd1.zip" lists the voting assignments. Please find this file on ftp.cdrom.com in the directory /demos/hornet/mc/mc4/info so you can begin your downloading and judging. Sorry, no fancy ascii lock-and-key animations this year. _____Round 1 Right now, we are in round 1 of the voting phase. This round will be used to determine the top 25 and top 15 rookie entries. Each song in round 1 will only be judged on one category: overall quality. Scores will be given in the range 1-100. Remember the decimals in MC3? You don't need to fiddle with the tenths column this time. You should only assign points in whole number intervals. This will make it easier for you to score, and it will be easier for us to calculate the scores. Voter comments will be made on all the songs by each judge in round 1. These comments will be made available at a later time. Voting for round 1 will take place from 20 July to 5 August 1996. _____Round 2 This round will consist of the top 15 rookie entries and the top 25 veteran entries from round 1. Voters will vote on all of the top songs in their assigned category. Voting for round 2 will take place from 10 August to 20 August 1996. _____Conclusion Help us to ensure accuracy, fairness, and completeness in the MC4 results. Fill out your voting form and submit it on time. We want to be able to provide the results in a timely fashion, so please do not delay! =-----------------------------------------------------------------------------= :: "Top Ten Reasons For Missing the Deadline" :: GD / Hornet :: gd@ftp.cdrom.com _____Introduction Among all of the serious business we have to handle in this newsletter, I thought it would be nice to provide something on the humor side to break the monotony. :) Thanks to all who have contributed to this list. _____Top Ten Reasons 10.
